Repentance

Repent; a word we don't hear preached very often these days; after all, who wants to hear a message about repentance and the need for us to turn from our wicked, sinful ways.

It seems that teaching on the importance of repentance, has fallen out of vogue. Many churches prefer to speak only of God's abundant grace, ignoring any focus on the concept of repentance.

The bible does tell us that it's by grace that we are saved; ref: Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith桮d this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God Ephesians 2:7-9 (in Context) Ephesians 2 (Whole Chapter)

However; the gospels, Acts, Revelation and others, also emphasize the importance of repentance. We cannot be born again if we do not recognize our sin, and have a heartfelt desire to turn - away from sin, and toward Jesus. Once we recognize our sinful state and desire to change from our sinful ways, God, by His awesome mercy and grace, sends us His Holy Spirit, who works within us, to assist us in turning from our sinful ways; something we are unable to do on our own.

Take a few minutes to review the passages below, then pray that the Holy Spirit will reveal God's truth as you invest yourself in His Word. May God Bless in your study.
